The common enemy of our teeth and gums is "Plaque",
It is a sticky film of bacteria which causes tooth decay. When this plaque
attacks the gums it causes gingivitis and if untreated leads to periodontitis
and ultimately tooth loss.

Tooth brushing removes plaque and food particles
from the outer, inner and upper surfaces of the teeth.

Tooth Brushing Technique

  • Brushing your teeth at
least twice daily helps prevent tooth decay and gum disease, the major causes
    of tooth loss.

  • On outer and inner
surfaces, brush at a 45-degree angle along gum with upward stroke for lower
teeth and downward stoke for upper teeth.

  • On occlusal surface back
    and forth motion.

  • On inside surfaces of
front teeth, tilt brush vertically and use gentle up-and-down strokes with toe
    of brush.

  • Use a soft-bristle brush
    remove plaque and food particles.

  • Replace your brush every
    two to three months
    .

Flossing Technique

  • Flossing daily removes
plaque and food particles between teeth and below the gum line.

  • Wrap an 18-inch strand
around your middle fingers and hold a one-inch section tightly.

  • Ease floss between your
teeth. Clean up and down several times while curving around teeth at the gum
    line. Don't scrub.

  • Always floss behind the
    last tooth.

Other Preventive Measure

  • Avoid sticky  and sweetened
    food.

  • Use the fluoride tooth paste if
your area water is deficient in fluoride content

  • Visit you dentist  for fluoride
    application .

  • If your teeth have deep pits on
biting surface, consult your dentist for Pit & Fissure application. it is very
    helpful in preventing caries.

  • If there is a tooth pain or
cavity get it filled at the earliest.

  • Visit your dentist after every
    six months.
